Locks and access control

Rekeying, master key systems, keypad locks, card readers and panic hardware. Performed by our own technicians, and no Florida contractor licence is required for any of it.

Performed in-house

Our own technician performs this work. No Florida contractor licence is required for it, and TrionX carries general liability and workers' compensation.

Which trades we perform, and who carries which insurance

Locks are the part of a building that changes every time a person does. A tenant moves out, a manager leaves, a cleaning contract ends, and every key issued over the past few years is suddenly an open question. Most commercial properties handle that badly, because the work is small, unglamorous and easy to defer until the day it matters.

This is the trade we do most of, and it is the one that fits an employed technician best. The jobs are short, they happen at awkward hours, and the value is in turning up quickly with the right blanks rather than in a specialist skill nobody else has.

Why TrionX

How we approach lock and access control.

A key register is worth more than a lock

Most properties know which locks they have and not who holds keys to them. When we build or rework a master system we hand over a written register: which key opens what, how many were cut, and who signed for them. That document is what makes the next rekey a small job instead of a survey.

Rekeying beats replacing more often than you think

A cylinder that works does not need throwing away because the tenant changed. Rekeying is cheaper, faster and leaves the door furniture matched. We will tell you when a lock is genuinely worn out, and when you are being sold a replacement you do not need.

Egress hardware is a life safety item

Panic bars and exit devices are checked against whether they release under load, not whether they look intact. A device that sticks is a fire code problem and an insurance problem long before anyone notices it in daily use.

Common questions

Locks and Access Control in Miami: questions we get asked

Do you need a licence to work on commercial locks in Florida?

No. Locksmithing is not a licensed contractor trade in Florida, which is why this work is carried out by TrionX employees rather than coordinated out. Our technicians are background-checked and TrionX carries general liability and workers' compensation. More on how we are set up.

How quickly can you rekey after a tenant leaves?

Usually same day or next day for a standard suite, because the work is short and we hold common blanks. Larger master systems need a survey first, since the point of a master system is that changing one cylinder should not break the hierarchy.

Can you work on our existing access control system?

We fit, rehang and maintain reader hardware, gate keypads and door furniture, and we change codes and credentials. Where a system needs new cabling or a mains connection, that part is electrical work and goes to a licensed electrician.

Do you handle lockouts out of hours?

Yes, and it is one of the most common after-hours calls we take. Emergency dispatch runs 24/7. Tell us the property, the door and whether anyone is locked in rather than out, because that changes the priority.
