Structure, licensing and insurance
How TrionX is set up
Written for whoever has to verify us: a broker, a vendor onboarding team, a risk department. What our employees do, what goes to licensed contractors, and who carries which insurance.
TrionX Services LLC runs on two tiers. The line between them is set by Florida licensing law, not by preference, and it decides who turns up.
Everything below is stated the same way on the individual trade pages. This page exists so it can be read in one place and sent as one link.
Tier one
Performed by TrionX employees
These trades do not require a Florida contractor licence. They are carried out by TrionX employees, on our payroll, background-checked, and covered by our general liability and workers' compensation insurance.

Tier two
Coordinated through licensed contractors
These require a licensed contractor in Florida. TrionX does not perform them. We scope the job, engage a contractor who holds the licence, verify their insurance, arrange access and keep the record.

Two rules apply without exception. There is no minimum job size below which a licence stops being required. And any work requiring a building permit is coordinated whatever the trade, because a permit has to be pulled by a licensed contractor.

When a building requires a certificate of insurance, the one that applies is the one belonging to whoever performs the work. For tier one that is the TrionX policy. For tier two it is the contractor's. Either way it is lodged with building management ahead of the visit rather than produced at the loading dock.

Common questions
What we get asked during onboarding
Does TrionX hold a Florida contractor licence?
No, and it does not need one for the work its employees perform. Locks and access control, doors and hardware, glass repair and re-glazing, carpentry, painting and general maintenance are not licensed trades in Florida. Work that does require a licence is carried out by a contractor who holds it.
Who actually performs the work on my property?
For the six trades listed above, a TrionX employee. For electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, roofing and structural work, a licensed contractor engaged by TrionX. The trade page for each service says which applies, and so does the work order.
What insurance does TrionX carry?
General liability and workers' compensation. Certificates are available on request and can be lodged with building management ahead of a visit. Contractors we engage carry their own general liability and workers' compensation, and their certificate is the one that applies to work they perform.
Is there a minimum job size below which a licence is not needed?
No. Florida requires the appropriate licensed contractor for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration work regardless of the value of the job. A small repair needs a licensed contractor exactly as much as a large one, and the scope is wider than people expect: replacing outlets, switches, fixtures and ceiling fans, and swapping toilets and faucets where lines are involved, all fall inside it.
What happens when a job needs a permit?
It is coordinated, whatever the trade. A permit has to be pulled by a licensed contractor, so any work requiring one goes to a contractor who can pull it. Glass is the case that comes up most: repairing or re-glazing an existing opening is work our own technicians do, and a full storefront replacement requiring a permit and an NOA submittal is not.
How do you verify the contractors you engage?
Licence and certificate of insurance are checked before work is scheduled, not after. If a building requires a certificate naming it as additional insured, that is arranged before the visit rather than at the door.
Can you provide documentation for a vendor onboarding pack?
