Locks and access control for Miami hotels

Guest room locking is a system somebody else supplies. Everything behind the service door is where a hotel actually loses control of its keys.

Hotels run electronic guest room locking supplied and supported by a specialist, and that half is rarely the problem. The back of house is different: plant rooms, stores, linen, kitchens, roof access, risers and offices, secured mechanically and issued to a workforce that turns over constantly.

Housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen and agency staff all need access, and each arrangement tends to be made individually. Without a register, a departure is either an unknown or an argument for rekeying a floor.

Why TrionX

How we approach it.

The back of house is the exposure

Guest room locking is supported by a specialist. Plant rooms, stores and roof access are mechanical, issued widely and rarely tracked, which is where the actual key control problem sits.

Turnover argues for restricted keyways

On a standard keyway a key issued and not returned is a permanent unknown. Restricted blanks are supplied only to the registered holder, so collection genuinely counts and a departure stops meaning a rekey.

Work sequenced around occupancy

Floors and areas taken in order rather than at random, and anything noisy given an agreed window. That planning belongs in the quote rather than being improvised on arrival.

Common questions

Questions we get asked

Do you work on guest room electronic locks?

Those are normally supplied and supported by a specialist system provider, and we do not represent otherwise. We handle the back of house: plant rooms, stores, risers, roof access, service corridors and offices, plus the mechanical door hardware throughout.

How do we control keys with this much staff turnover?

Put group-use areas on codes where possible, since a change costs nothing, and hold mechanical keys on a restricted keyway so copies cannot be cut freely. Then record every issue in one register kept by the property rather than by a department.

What happens after a staff departure?

Revoke any electronic credential and change relevant codes the same day, both immediate and free. Collect physical keys and reconcile against the register. Then decide on rekeying, which depends on whether the register accounts for everything and whether the keyway is restricted.

Can lock work happen without disturbing guests?

Yes. Back-of-house work is largely invisible to guests anyway, and anything in a public area or on a guest floor gets sequenced and given an agreed window. Tell us the occupancy pattern so it goes into the scope.
